Hello friends and neighbours,

We'll forgoe much commentary to share links to the final draft Plan and Staff report, which have just been released moments ago.

Obviously, at some 320 pages is some serious reading but does represent a 30 year plan and significant changes to the area.

Hello Friends and Neighbours,

Built Form Workshop Tomorrow

A reminder that this Saturday, January 11 the City is hosting a Built Form and Places Feedback Workshop, to discuss the draft Local Area Plan, from 10 am - 12:30 pm at the Strathcona Community Centre. This is an opportunity for interested residents and members of the LAPP Committee to discuss some of the proposed built form changes to Strathcona and the DTES with City staff.

Tuesday, January 7, 2014

Please Note: the 7:00pm start time for tomorrow's meeting is a little earlier than the usual 7:15, there has been a lot of response to this event so seating may be limited for late arrivals..

Changes to height and scale are coming to Strathcona and the Downtown Eastside.

Up to 12 to 15 stories along Hastings, major rezonings in Kiwassa, over $1billion dollars and a 150% population increase over 30 years.
- How might these affect affordability and livability?
- Are there other options to consider?

Word yesterday that the Strathcona / DTES Local Area Plan is now being made available to the public. The plan represents nearly two years of work involving local residents, stakeholders and staff, and will involve the next thirty years of growth anticipating 10-12,000 additional residents for the DTES. The plan covers everything from housing and building heights, to arts & culture, heritage, health & well-being, economy, transportation and public benefits.
