I want to write about the orphanage I visited. It took a couple of days to sink in so I’m not quite sure how I feel about it yet. I really didn’t know what to expect but once I got there my heart was both broken and singing at the same time. Those children live in absolute squalor. 29 children ranging from 4-15 years of age. The beds are shared. The mattresses hopelessly flat. No doubt there are lice on all of them. They live in a half built cement house with dangers every where. They cook on a rudimentary stove made of clay on the ground. Only recently was there a table donated big enough for all to sit at. These kids have nothing….. yet the smiles and laughter were overwhelmingly welcoming.
The orphanage is something that I will keep with me in my heart. I will help these children strive for a better life. How could I not?”
