SRA Annual General Meeting this Wednesday, October 6

Hello, Strathcona friends and neighbours. The Annual General Meeting of the Strathcona Residents Association will be held on Wednesday, October 6, at 7:15 p.m., at the Strathcona Community Centre.

The chair, treasurer, and the chairs of the various active committees will present their annual reports.

At the AGM, eligible residents of Strathcona will select the SRA's officers for the coming year: chair or co-chairs, minute-taker(s), treasurer, attendance-keeper, film liaison officer, and committee members.

SRA committees deal with issues of concern for the community, including safety and security, traffic, the proposed Venables/Prior Greenway, and zoning. Some committees are active every year, while others may be formed temporarily to address a pressing problem or challenge (for example, the crime-wave we're currently experiencing). Please note that the Zoning Committee has a surfeit of members and will not need to recruit at this year's AGM.

Any resident of Strathcona is eligible to hold any of the positions mentioned above but, in order to be eligible to vote at an SRA meeting, a person must have attended at least 3 meetings in the previous 12 months. (That's why it's important to sign in when you attend a meeting.)

After the official business of the AGM is concluded, the SRA's current Chair, James Johnstone (Strathcona's very own House Historian), will present  "The East End: A Photographic Retrospective." There may be one or two other items on the agenda as well.

Come and find out what's happening in our neighbourhood and join with us in shaping our future.
