The 11th Annual DTES Heart of the City Festival

Featuring over 90 events at over 25 venues
Wednesday, October 29, 2014 - Sunday, November 9, 2014

To celebrate and launch the second decade of the Festival, the theme of this year’s Festival is “Keeping the home fires burning,” inspired by the residents and artists of the Downtown Eastside who carry the flame of our community.

A special highlight of this year’s Festival is the Theatre in the Raw production of The Raymur Mothers, an original musical, written by Bob Sarti, music by Bill Sample, directed by Jay Hamburger, that tells the inspiring story of the mothers who succeeded in their fight to have a pedestrian overpass built over the railroad tracks.

The Festival is presented by Vancouver Moving Theatre, in association with Carnegie Community Centre, the Association of United Ukrainian Canadians, and a host of community partners.
