2013 VPD Block Watch Crime Prevention Summit

Vancouver Police Department
Wednesday, September 11, 2013

NOTE: There is limited seating. The deadline for registration has been extended to September 9th.

Block Watch Investigations & Training Officer, Cst. Dave Krenz and Block Watch Coordinator, Leah Marlay, are pleased to offer an open invitation to all Vancouver residents to the 2013 Block Watch Crime Prevention Summit. (See the attached poster)

Cst. Krenz will be facilitating this information packed, crime prevention summit to teach Vancouverites to recognize and report suspicious and criminal behaviour. If you have attended Block Watch training before, please join us for a refresher, as there is new information to be shared.

At the end of this training you and your guest will walk away with the confidence to:

· Recognize the tell-tale signs of a property crime thief (verbal & non-verbal cues)
· Get a ‘suspect description’ that will improve the chances of a conviction
· Make an assertive decision to call the police when you witness something suspicious or criminal
· Leave your home unoccupied knowing it won’t attract the attention of thieves
· Be part of creating a safer neighbourhood
· … and more!

Having more trained participants in a neighbourhood Block Watch will improve the effectiveness, awareness and cohesiveness of your group.

Get involved with the VPD’s goal to make Vancouver Canada’s safest major city. Invite your guests to invite others as well! Your participation will make a difference!

There will be prizes and refreshments will be provided.

There is limited seating. The deadline for registration has been extended to September 9th.

To register, please email: VancouverPoliceBlockWatch@gmail.com or call 604.717.2857.
