Dear Council of the Strathcona Residents Association:
Thank you for your correspondence dated April 24, 2018, regarding the Vancouver Fraser Port Authority’s (VFPA) Centerm Expansion Project (Centerm).
As you are aware, the VFPA has recently come to a decision on Centerm. As outlined in their letter of April 20, 2018, the Environmental Assessment Office (EAO) is currently undertaking a review of VFPA’s decision materials to determine if there are any significant adverse effects or outstanding issues of provincial interest anticipated from Centerm. This review will inform proposed next steps by the EAO, which will be communicated to you by the EAO, as well as any additional opportunities to provide input into the process.
I understand your concerns and appreciate that you took the time to both outline your detailed concerns regarding Centerm and provide your clear position on the requirement of a review under the BC Environmental Assessment Act. I have forwarded your correspondence to the EAO and can assure you that it will be meaningfully considered as they undertake their review.
If you have any additional questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact Kim Walters, Project Assessment Manager, at 778 698-3398 or Kimberly.Walters@gov.bc.ca.
