Early Immigrant History Walking Tours (Free)
Citizenship Week - October 14 – 17th, 2014

October 13th through 19th Vancouver Heritage Foundation is celebrating Citizenship Week with free walking tours that explore the diverse cultural history of Strathcona. Join John Atkin or Maurice Guibord to learn about the schools, churches, grocery stores and street corners that came alive with the voices of generations of immigrant families. The October 16th walk will be given in French by Maurice Guibord, and all tours end at the Union Food Market which has been a traditional Portuguese grocery and bakery since 1962.
The walks are free and open to everyone, but registration is required as space is limited.
Meet at the Strathcona Community Centre (601 Keefer Street)
With John Atkin:
Tuesday October 14th 2-4pm
Friday October 17th 4-6pm
With Maurice Guibord:
Wednesday October 15th 2-4pm
Thursday October 16th 4-6pm (offered in French)
