After a nice summer break we are ramping up for another season of SRA meetings - there is a lot on the go for our neighbourhood this fall!
Viaducts removal vote at City Council, Flats planning, Annual General Meeting with opportunities to elect new SRA Council and committee members and much much more.
Please mark your calendars for our first meeting of the fall Wednesday, September 2nd at 7:15 pm at the Strathcona Community Centre (601 Keefer)
(and note: the SRA meets the first Wednesday of every month Sep-Jun)
Our guest speakers will be planners Thomas Daley and Tom Wanklin form the City of Vancouver to talk about ‘The Flats' planning process and how we, the residents of Strathcona, can be involved.
The Flats are a crucial area for Strathcona:
the future home of a new St. Paul’s hospital
the proposed location of a new alternate arterial for Prior
new park opportunities
the location of our cherished community gardens (Strathcona and Cottonwood)
potential connections with other neighbourhoods
industry and work opportunities
We are also being invited to send a representative of the SRA to the City’s Flats Advisory Committee:
It is anticipated that the overall commitment to this committee will be in the order of 4-5 morning meetings of 1.5 hours over the next 12-16 months, starting in September.
in preparation for this important upcoming SRA meeting, please read/review the False Creek Flats website http://vancouver.ca/home-property-development/false-creek-flats.aspx
We look forward to seeing everyone there!
