Meetings of The S.R.A
The Strathcona Residents Association meets at 7:15 the first Wednesday evening of the month at the Strathcona Community Centre (601 Keefer), except the months of July and August. Meetings in these 2 summer months are only held to respond to a matter of urgency.
The meetings are open to all interested neighbourhood residents. At each meeting there is usually a time where business is discussed. News is announced and reports are made by representatives of the various SRA Committees such as the Zoning Committee, the Traffic Committee, the Website Committee etc.
Most of the time, but not always, the SRA will arrange to have a guest speaker or presenter at the meeting. In the recent past the SRA has been fortunate enough to have presentations by a diverse range of guests, including BC Attorney General Kash Heed, counselling psychology consultant and neighbour Dr. Douglas Cave, East End-born Italian-Canadian historian and author Raymond Culos, Charles Barber, conductor and artistic director of City Opera, and architect Michael Geller to name a few.
Attendance is taken at each meeting and only those who have attended three SRA meetings in the past year, and live within the described geographical boundaries of Strathcona (see map) are eligible to vote at SRA meetings, so remember to sign in when you arrive.
Members of the SRA and guests at meetings are expected to conduct themselves appropriately and in accordance with our Code of Conduct.
