Friday July 6 at 8am: The City plans to remove the viaducts but not the traffic it creates on Prior Street. Please Join us for a 1-hour peaceful, family-friendly demonstration to let the City know : This is our Neighbourhood, not a Highway! Everyone's Welcome: we'll have signs, balloons, baked... goods and coffee - rain or shine...

Reclaim Prior Street.
Reconnect Strathcona.

On Friday July 6th, 2012 between three and four hundred residents of all ages and backgrounds took to Prior and Hawks during the morning rush hour to demand traffic calming on Prior Street. The colourful and enthusiastic protest was well covered by the media. For one hour, we slowed down traffic using the pedestrian controlled crossing lights. We had snacks and drinks, signs, banners and a lot of fun. The galvanized community members who attended, vowed to continue the protests as long as necessary. Check out the Facebook event page for some more great pictures of the morning. News Coverage: • CBC TVCBC Radio: The Early EditionGlobal TV Morning NewsVancouver SunThe Province
