LOCAL SCHOOLS
Strathcona has two of Vancouver's oldest elementary schools and a limited variety of daycare options.
COMMUNITY CENTRES
Strathcona is served by two community centres. The Strathcona Community Centre is located beside Lord Strathcona School. The Ray-Cam Co-operative Centre is located at Clark and Hastings. See below for Information about facilities, programs and services
COMMUNITY GARDENS
The Stathcona Community Gardens Society is a volunteer BC Society that manages two community gardens adjoining Starthcona Park: Strathcona Gardens (located west of Hawks Ave between Prior and Malkin) and Cottonwood Garden. COMMUNITY SAFETY
One of the SRA's core missions is to promote community safety by working with the Strathcona Community Policing Centre, the VPD and grass roots groups to report, prevent and reduce crime, to promote a sense of safety and cooperation and to encourage dialogue.
PREPARING FOR DISASTER
What happens when an earthquake hits? How prepared are you? How prepared is the city? What about other potential hazards like heat waves, fires, toxic chemicals leaks or pandemics? Best to have a plan in place before something happens.
