View this email in your browser June 2023 Newsletter UPCOMING EVENTS  Strathcona Community Centre’s Summer Kick Off will be this Saturday, June 24 from 11-2 in the centre’s back parking lot off Pender St. There will activities for all ages, including a bouncy castle, carnival games, art & crafts, a BBQ fundraiser and more! MacLean Park Music starts its 2023 summer season this Sunday, June 25, from 2-5, with live music from Ukraine, Eastern Europe and Sudan. Performers will be donating tip jar proceeds to the Canada-Ukraine Foundation’s Ukrainian medical relief project. The 27th Annual 600 Block Union Street Neighbourhood Block Party is back on Saturday, July 8! Starting at 4pm, the party welcomes to all ages and features local live bands, volleyball, street hockey, face painting, street chalk, a bike valet and more! Special appearances by the Vancouver Fire Department Fire Truck and Shoebox Art, Vancouver’s only art gallery on wheels All events are free and everyone is invited and welcome.  Pickleball in the Park? Do you support converting the currently unused south tennis court in Strathcona Park into a pickleball court? The court has been out of commission since last summer’s sink hole and previous to that being was used as a pop-up skate park. There are no pickleball courts in the area. It would be a great first step in revitalizing Strathcona Park. Click here to support. Air Quality Data Review We will soon be getting our first batch of quarterly data from thStrathcona Area Air Quality Study that the SRA is doing in conjunction with the Port. We’re looking for a few volunteers (in particular, those with some experience interpreting air quality data) to review the data and meet to discuss sometime this summer. But like all websites, it needs the occasional tweak or fix. Can you offer up some assistance? Promise that this is not a big commitment. Just some periodic help.
